Rubens' Dream is a triptych of three 2m x 1.5m panels created using chards from recycled pottery. It is a resolution of the conflict between consciousness and the unconscious, a holding together of the opposites
within the alchemical opus.

Rubens' Dream’ is many things. The 2m x 1.5m panels are impressive enough as portraits, however to meet in the flesh the images are simply breathtaking, demanding in their composition, intense in their vivid ceramic palette.
I listened to Andy describing Rubens' Dreamand I realised that underneath the impact of the panels lies an immense history. For within its tapestry of colour we find Rubens' ‘Venus and Adonis’, certainly, but also Raphael, Titian, Burn Jones, Utamaro, amongst others.
By drawing upon these mythological themes, repeated through classical tradition, Andy continues the confrontation with life’s hardboiled questions - the nature of the masculine and feminine and the paradox of logic and love. In this way Ruben’s Dream is a vessel for the creative journey, bringing the raw creative spirit to bear upon material quality and technical aspiration
As a work of art Rubens' Dream is a triumph of personal language within public space. As an artist Andy has much more to give and is already working on his next composition.
